District 88 schools ranked in top 7 percent of schools in U.S. by US News & World Report
The US News & World Report recently released a comprehensive ranking of the “Nation's Best High Schools," and Addison Trail and Willowbrook have been ranked in the top 7 percent of schools in the U.S.!
They used a rigorous system to create their rankings (see the methodology link below). Addison Trail was ranked at 1,454, and Willowbrook was ranked at 1,608 out of 22,000 schools nationally (placing both schools in the top 7 percent nationally).
Out of 672 Illinois high schools, Addison Trail was ranked at 54, and Willowbrook was ranked at 58 (placing both schools in the top 8 percent in Illinois).

District 88 2012-13 school-year calendar approved
During its Feb. 27 meeting, the District 88 Board of Education approved the District 88 2012-13 school-year calendar. Highlights of the calendar include: first day of school, Aug. 22; Thanksgiving Break, Nov. 19 through 23; Winter Break, Dec. 24 through Jan. 4, 2013; and Spring Break, March 25 through 29, 2013.
Observed school holidays are:
Labor Day: Sept. 3
Columbus Day: Oct. 8
Thanksgiving Day: Nov. 22
Christmas Day: Dec. 25
New Year’s Day: Jan. 1, 2013
Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Jan. 21, 2013
Presidents Day: Feb. 18, 2013
Casimir Pulaski Day: March 4, 2013

District 88 students set to ACHIEVE with new program

District 88 is committed to ensuring all students have the opportunity to reach their individual academic potential in a challenging, yet supportive school environment.
During the 2011-12 school year, District 88 reviewed intervention programs for special education and regular education students. As a result of that review, the district has made the decision to restructure some of the current offerings and create a new program to improve our supports to our most at-risk student populations.
We’re excited to introduce this new program, called ACHIEVE, as it will truly allow us to better serve students who need more intensive academic, motivational and social-emotional supports. To see the full story, click here.

With spring just around the corner, many are thinking about flowers, warmer weather, sunshine and blue skies – but many juniors and seniors are beginning to think about the scholarship application process. Now through late April, local scholarship listings are released. Willowbrook and Addison Trail recently hosted their Talent Shows, and the top 10 acts from both shows will participate in District 88’s first Talent Show at 7 p.m. May 25.

District 88 Names Superintendent for 2012-13 School Year
During the Jan. 24, 2011, DuPage High School District 88 Board of Education meeting, board members voted to approve Scott Helton as Superintendent of Schools, effective with the 2012-13 school year. He will officially begin his duties as the ninth Superintendent in the district’s history July 1. Helton will replace Steve Humphrey after Humphrey retires June 30, which concludes his 12 years of service in District 88 and 42 years in education. To see the full story, click here.

During the DuPage High School District 88 Board of Education meeting on August 15, board members voted unanimously to approve Adam Cibulka as the Principal of Addison Trail High School, effective with the 2012-13 school year. To see the full story, click here.

District 88 receives recognition for financial stability
District 88 is proud to have achieved a AAA bond rating from Moody’s, in part through initiating cost-saving measures proactively. The district maintained the classification of “Financial Recognition” from the Illinois State Board of Education to acknowledge the district’s strong financial profile. This is the highest category of financial achievement for a school district.
